Seasonal flu and H1N1 flu (swine flu) alert

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends:

  • Cancer patients
  • Cancer survivors
  • Caregivers

be vaccinated for both:

  • Seasonal flu
  • H1N1 (swine flu, influenza)

The seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu are not the same. To be protected from both, you will need a vaccination for the seasonal flu and a vaccination for the H1N1 flu.

If you are currently living with cancer or have had cancer in the past, you are at high risk of the harmful effects of the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu. Both types of flu can cause death.

For more information on the seasonal flu and H1N1 flu, visit the CDC Web site.
